What we do

Top5.nz publishes ranked lists of the top five businesses in common service categories across New Zealand's major cities. Rankings are calculated automatically from public ratings and review data.

Every business in our rankings earned its position through public ratings and reviews. Paid options are available for businesses, and are always clearly labelled. Rankings themselves are determined by the data, not by payment.

Why we built it

Most business directories are pay-to-rank. The businesses at the top paid to be there, not because they're the best. That's not useful information.

We wanted a simple answer to a simple question: who are actually the best plumbers in Auckland? The best accountants in Wellington? Not who paid the most, but who has genuinely earned the trust of their customers.

Coverage

We currently cover 36 service categories across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Dunedin, including suburbs of Auckland (North Shore, South Auckland, and West Auckland). We plan to expand to more categories and regions over time.
