Full window replacement, new frames included, starts around $25,000 and can exceed $80,000, making retrofit roughly 30 to 60 percent cheaper where the frames are sound. For a broken single pane in an aluminium frame near ground level, an Auckland glazier quotes an average of about $320 plus GST, within a range of $200 to $800 plus GST, with timber frames and double-glazed units costing noticeably more.

Is double glazing required by law, and does replacing windows need a building consent?
